Invitation to the Roundtable
FORT SMITH, AR (August 27, 2007) -
Dear Friends and Customers,
As our industry changes, I want you to know exactly how EagleOne is shaping the future of logistics. So from time to time, I'll be sharing news and information about the "last mile" shipping industry that can help you with your business.
The NTLA
As you may know, EagleOne has joined the inaugural Board of Directors for the National Transportation and Logistics Association (NTLA). The NTLA strives to advance the last mile courier industry by collaborating with insurance brokers, independent driver contractors, courier software companies and personnel screening services, to develop the most reliable value and service options in the industry. We invite these professionals to take part in annual roundtable meetings to help us in creating solutions to problems our industry is facing.
The discussion at the NTLA 2007 Roundtable, October 16-18 in San Antonio, Texas, will focus on a new pharmaceutical distribution certification program. We want to define standard criteria for transportation providers and build an audit/certification program to document carriers' compliance with these standards. The NTLA is working closely with pharmaceutical wholesalers on defining standards in the following areas: security, facilities, insurance/risk management, closed loop delivery/chain of custody and procurement processes and implementations. This certification will stand as a mark of excellence that all of you can view as a sign of improved quality and consistency.
Asa Hutchinson
EagleOne is pleased to provide the NTLA Roundtable with its keynote speaker Asa Hutchinson. the former Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Under Secretary for Border and Transportation Security for the Department of Homeland Security, Mr. Hutchinson now leads a consulting firm specializing in security and public policy advocacy services. Recently, we hired Mr. Hutchinson's firm, The Hutchinson Group (HG), to provide us with greater insight into last mile security and loss prevention. HG also helped us build stronger relationships with regulatory and compliance organizations such as the DEA.
EagleOne is the first courier company to consult with the HG. As a board member of the NTLA, we feel that it is our responsibility to share what we have learned about enhanced security to help further the industry as a whole. For instance, under the advisement of HG, EagleOne has hired a veteran police investigator to head our security department. David Joplin came to EagleOne after a 15-year career with the Fort Smith Police Department where he specialized in crime scene investigation, surveillance, interrogation and dealing with federal, state and local regulation agencies.
Invitation to the Roundtable
I would like to extend you an invitation to the upcoming NTLA Roundtable at the Westin La Cantera Resort in San Antonio. In addition to Asa Hutchinson, you will hear from two other notable speakers: Satish Jindel, president of the SJ Consulting Group, and Wesley Chused, partner at Looney & Grossman LLP. Mr. Jindel will discuss his experience with logistics and supply chain management and Mr. Chused will offer a greater understanding of commercial and business litigation in transportation law. Last year, more than 250 attendees representing more than $1 billion in transportation business took part in the Roundtable. It is our desire that, in addition to those who joined us from the banking and pharmaceutical industries, other administrators of healthcare and office supply transportation networks would meet with us to share their views on the quality control of our industry.
I hope that you can join us at the upcoming NTLA Roundtable on Oct. 16th at the Westin La Cantera Resort in San Antonio. If you would like more information about the NTLA Roundtable or Asa Hutchinson, or have a question about the logistics industry, please contact us at EagleOne by calling (479) 785-3524 and ask for Dan Trantham.
The NTLA is a non-membership association and allows open attendance. If you would like to attend the Roundtable, please visit http://www.thentla.com/registration.html for a list of registration information and attendee costs.
Warmly,
Greg Hasley
President, EagleOne
